Up high the red and lighter soils drain freely and dry at the surface (wetting agents help); down low the black clay compacts and cracks (aeration helps). Couch, kikuyu and buffalo are the common grasses. Winter grass and bindii are the cool-season weeds, and khaki weed is worth watching on the lighter, drier ground.
