NDIS funding

Does the NDIS pay for lawn mowing and gardening?

Often, yes. Yard maintenance is usually funded from Core Supports (Assistance with Daily Life) when your disability stops you doing tasks you'd otherwise do yourself, and it's reasonable and necessary for you.

It covers the work, not the materials. Mulch, soil, fertiliser and garden products generally aren't funded, and neither are landscaping, repairs or new gardens.

Check your plan if you're unsure. Your plan manager, support coordinator or local area coordinator can confirm what your funding covers. We're happy to talk it through too.

Every staff member is police-checked, and we carry $20 million public liability. We follow the NDIS Code of Conduct, which applies to registered and unregistered providers alike.

You stay in control. Change how often we come or pause visits whenever you need to, and end the agreement with 14 days' written notice.

Common questions

NDIS lawn mowing & gardening FAQ

Does the NDIS pay for lawn mowing?

It can. Lawn mowing and yard maintenance are usually funded from Core Supports (Assistance with Daily Life) when your disability means you can't do them yourself, and they're reasonable and necessary for you. Your plan manager, support coordinator or local area coordinator can confirm what your plan covers.

What NDIS item code is gardening and lawn mowing?

House or Yard Maintenance, item 01_019_0120_1_1. It sits in the Household Tasks group under Assistance with Daily Life, and it's on every invoice we send.

Are you a registered or NDIS-approved provider?

We're an unregistered provider. There's no separate list of NDIS-approved gardeners: providers are either registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission or unregistered. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can use either, which is who we work with. We follow the NDIS Code of Conduct, every team member is police-checked, and we carry $20 million public liability.

How much of my plan will yard maintenance use?

It depends on the size of the yard, how fast it grows and how often you want visits. Your agreement lists the estimated frequency, and every invoice shows the hours, so you or your plan manager can track it against your Core Supports budget. If funding is getting tight, we can space visits out over the cooler months.

How do I sign the service agreement?

Digitally. Once you've been in touch we send it to you electronically, and you read and sign it on your phone or computer. We keep the signed copy on file and can send it to you or your plan manager any time.

Do I need to be home when you come?

No, as long as we can get to the areas that need doing. You'll get a reminder the day before, so gates can be unlocked and pets secured, and a message when we're done.

Do you charge for travel?

Only as the NDIS allows. Travel time is capped under the NDIS Pricing Arrangements, and vehicle costs are a per-kilometre contribution. Both are set out in your agreement before any work starts.

Can a family member or support coordinator set this up?

Yes. A family member, guardian or nominee can sign as your representative, and a support coordinator can make the first contact for you. Invoices go to whoever manages your plan.

Which suburbs do you service?

Toowoomba and surrounds within roughly 35km — north to Hampton, west to Oakey, south to Cambooya, east to Gatton. See areas we service for the full list of 55 suburbs and towns.

The Team from TopLawn have been mowing and maintaining our one acre property at Hodgson Vale on a regular monthly basis since the beginning of this year. Prior to that they had cut back and trimmed our very overgrown hedges and Bougainvillea, making them look attractive once again. The boys have done an amazing job, especially Zac and Tom who leave our yard looking pristine and very well cared for - lawn mowed, edges trimmed, and paths blown clean. We highly recommend this family business for their high standards and professional service.
