The right machine
A domestic ride-on on a two-acre block takes hours and leaves an uneven finish, because it isn't built for that duty cycle. We run commercial zero-turn mowers — a Toro Z Master 52" and a Bushranger 54" RZ — which cover open ground fast and cut evenly across the whole property, not just the flat middle.
The finish is where acreage jobs are usually let down. Anyone can mow the open paddock-style sections; what separates a proper job is the detail work around fence lines, water tanks, sheds, gateposts, driveway edges and around trees. We bring Stihl KombiSystem and Ego tools for exactly that, so the boundaries look as sharp as the middle.
For the tighter house-yard section that most rural properties have around the home, we switch to commercial and compact push mowers rather than trying to force a 54" deck through a garden gate.
Being clear about scope
What we do: maintained lawn and grounds on rural and rural-residential blocks. House yards, established lawn areas, mown paddock surrounds, driveway and fence-line edges, around sheds, tanks and outbuildings. Typically anything from a half-acre lifestyle block up to several acres of maintained ground.
What we don't do: paddock slashing, fire breaks, or broadacre work. That's a different machine, a different licence picture and a different job. If that's what you need, we'll tell you straight and point you toward someone who does it — rather than turning up with the wrong gear and doing it badly.
Being clear about that upfront saves everyone a wasted quote.
Where we do most of it
Different parts of the region throw up different acreage challenges, and the soil underneath changes what a block needs.
Highfields, Cawdor, Kleinton, Meringandan, Cabarlah, Hampton. Red basalt, harder frosts, longer winter dormancy — the schedule stretches right out over the cold months.
Oakey, Kingsthorpe, Wellcamp, Charlton, Westbrook. Black cracking clay, wind and sun exposure. Higher cut and deeper watering matter more than frequency here.
Wyreema, Cambooya, Preston, Vale View, Hodgsonvale. Texture-contrast soils — cracking clay in parts, fast-drying lighter ground in others, often on the same block.
Withcott, Murphys Creek, Helidon, Grantham, Gatton. Fertile alluvial, warmer and more humid — grass grows faster and for longer, so intervals tighten.

Blocks that have got away
If your block has got away from you, that's normal and we're not fazed by it. Wet seasons, a busy stretch, a rental between tenants, or a property you don't live on — blocks get out of hand.
An overgrown first cut takes longer and may need a staged approach, cutting down in passes rather than trying to take it all in one. That protects the mower and gives a far better result than forcing it. Once it's back under control, it drops to standard maintenance pricing on a regular cycle.
For most acreage mowing, clippings are mulched back in — on a large block that's the practical and agronomically sensible option, and it feeds the soil rather than carting nutrients away.
Where you need waste removed — a heavy first cut, a clean-up, hedge and pruning work, or general rubbish around the property — we handle removal and dump runs as part of the job.
Scheduling acreage
Acreage doesn't run on a suburban mowing schedule. Growth on a large block is uneven — the irrigated or shaded areas race ahead while the exposed sections slow down — and a fortnightly cycle that suits a suburban lawn is often either too frequent or not frequent enough out here.
Through the warm months (September to March), most rural blocks need attention every two to four weeks depending on rainfall and how much of the block is maintained lawn versus rougher ground.
Through the cool months (April to August), growth slows sharply, and at elevation — Highfields, Cabarlah, Hampton, Cawdor — frosts slow it further. Many blocks stretch out to monthly or longer.

No. Our acreage work is maintained lawn and grounds, not broadacre. Slashing needs different equipment and we'd rather say so than do it poorly. We'll happily point you toward someone who does it properly.
Usually a longer cycle than a suburban lawn — often fortnightly to monthly through the growing season, stretching further over winter. Larger blocks generally suit a slightly heavier cut on a longer interval rather than frequent light cuts.
Yes — that's the part that makes an acreage job look finished rather than just cut. Fence lines, water tanks, sheds, gateposts, driveway edges and around trees are all included in a standard visit.
No separate travel fee within our service area — roughly 35km of Toowoomba. Distance is factored into the quote, and because we run scheduled rounds by area, a property on an existing route is priced the same as anywhere else.
On most acreage the clippings are mulched back in, which is better for the soil and avoids carting away enormous volumes. Where catching makes more sense — around the house yard, or before an event — we'll catch and remove.
