What's involved
Why it matters
It's the detail work — hedges, garden beds, hand weeding, a clean bed edge — that separates a genuinely well-kept property from one that's just been mowed. Most people notice the difference without being able to name it.
Our Stihl KombiSystem and Ego multi-tool systems let the crew move between edging, hedging, trimming and pole pruning on one visit without extra setup time. That sounds like a small thing, but it's the difference between your garden getting proper attention and a rushed once-over because the right tool was back in the trailer.
It's also why lawn and garden on the same visit costs less than booking them separately — we're already there, with everything we need.
Worth understanding
On Toowoomba's free-draining red Ferrosol, the surface dries out fast through summer. Mulch is the cheapest, most effective thing you can do about it — it holds moisture in the root zone, moderates soil temperature, and suppresses the weed seed that would otherwise germinate on bare ground.
Depth matters. Too thin and weeds push straight through. Too thick against stems and you invite collar rot. Around 75mm, pulled back from trunks and stems, is the rule we work to.
On black cracking clay out west, mulch does something slightly different — it reduces the surface drying that drives the shrink-swell cycle, so beds crack less and stay workable longer.
Mulch breaks down. Most Toowoomba gardens want a top-up annually, usually heading into spring.

Common questions
Yes, and it's cheaper that way — we're already on site. Most clients with established gardens have both done together, with the garden work on a less frequent cycle than the mow.
Monthly suits most established gardens through the growing season, stretching to six-weekly over winter. Heavily planted gardens or ones with fast-growing species may want fortnightly. Mulching is usually annual.
Both, depending on the bed. Hand weeding where there are plantings to protect — roots out, not just tops off. Selective or knockdown spray where it's safe and more effective. We're ACDC licensed for the spraying side.
If it's been neglected for a season or more, it usually needs a garden overhaul first — a reset back to a defined shape — then ongoing maintenance keeps it there. Trying to fix it through regular visits alone takes longer and costs more.
Yes — supplied, spread to depth and pulled back from stems. We'll advise on type based on your beds; different mulches suit different plantings and break down at different rates.
Yes — and where we're not certain about an unusual specimen, we'll ask rather than cut. Pruning at the wrong time costs you a season of flowering, so it's worth a conversation on the first visit about what matters to you in the garden.
