Toowoomba City
East Toowoomba's character homes come with mature trees, established beds and gardens that deserve a careful hand — not a quick mow-and-go. TopLawn brings the detail these properties need, from precise edging to proper pruning. Family-owned, 70+ five-star reviews, police-checked, $20M insured.
Why us here
This is one of Toowoomba's most established, leafy suburbs, and the gardens show it — mature trees, formal beds, hedges that have been shaped for years. That kind of property needs more than a lawnmower. Our Stihl chainsaw handles heavier cutback when a tree or shrub needs it, our Ego Kombi system does the finer pruning and edging around established beds, and we take the time to get the detail right. Same local crew each visit, $20M insured, 70+ five-star reviews, and a genuine eye for what these gardens need.
Lawn conditions here
Red Ferrosol
East Toowoomba sits on the deep red Ferrosol that made this part of the city a gardener's dream — it's the same iron-rich basalt soil renowned for growing roses and ornamentals, which is part of why the gardens here are so established. It drains freely, so the surface can dry through summer and a wetting agent helps on stubborn dry patches. Couch and kikuyu are common on the open lawns, with buffalo and some fescue on the shadier, treed blocks. Through the cooler months it's the usual winter grass and bindii to watch, though here the bigger job is often keeping the mature garden beds weeded and pruned rather than the lawn itself.
A century of cultivation cuts both ways: the deep red Ferrosol here is superb, but old gardens mean mature canopies, shaded lawns and ground that has had generations of compaction underfoot. Aeration does more per dollar in East Toowoomba than almost anywhere in town, and shade-tolerant varieties earn their keep under the established trees.
East Toowoomba is prized for its older character homes, tree-lined streets and established gardens, often on generous blocks. These are properties where the garden is as much the feature as the house, so much of our work here goes well beyond mowing — pruning, hedging, hand weeding and garden-bed care for owners who want it all kept immaculate.
This is the city's heritage quarter — Queens Park and the Botanic Gardens have been here since 1869, Toowoomba Grammar since 1877, and the streets hold some of the oldest established gardens in Toowoomba, growing on deep red basalt soil for over a century.

What your lawn is telling you
On the lawn, beading dry patches mean hydrophobic soil (wetting agent), spongy turf means thatch (scarify), and pale growth means it's hungry (feed). But in East Toowoomba the tell-tales are often in the beds — overgrown shrubs crowding each other, hedges losing their shape, weeds taking over a neglected bed. All of that is routine garden-overhaul and pruning work for us.

Common questions
Free quotes. On these properties the price reflects lawn size plus how much garden work is involved — pruning, hedging, weeding and bed care add to a straight mow — along with access, frequency, and the property's starting condition. Established gardens that have been let go take more on the first visit, then settle into easier ongoing maintenance.

★★★★★
Immediately impressed by their skill and careful attention to detail. I have a very small garden area but with many fiddly and small feature hedges, plus some really tall screening hedges. The result is always perfect. His team is efficient, leaving everything clean and looking beautiful.
