Toowoomba City
In Newtown, your front lawn is on show — close to the street, seen by everyone who drives past. TopLawn keeps it looking sharp with clean lines and precise edging, every visit. We're a family-owned, Highfields-based team with 70+ five-star Google reviews, police-checked, $20M insured, servicing Newtown on our regular inner-city rounds.
Why us here
Newtown's older, established streets are full of homes where the lawn sits right on the frontage — so a rushed, uneven cut shows immediately. That's why we bring the right mower for the space (a commercial push mower for the medium blocks, a compact push mower for the tight side accesses common on these older lots) and finish every edge with a bladed edger, not just a quick whipper-snip. Many Newtown homes also carry mature garden beds and hedges that need proper attention, and our Stihl and Ego Kombi tools let us move from mowing to edging to hedge work in the one visit. You get the same local crew each time, $20M insured, backed by 70+ genuine five-star reviews.
Lawn conditions here
Red Ferrosol
Newtown sits on Toowoomba's deep red Ferrosol — the iron-rich, free-draining basalt soil the region is known for. It's excellent soil, but it dries at the surface through summer and can turn water-repellent, leaving patches that shed water instead of absorbing it. A wetting agent fixes that. Mature street trees mean shade on many blocks, so buffalo and fescue do well in the shadier spots, with couch and kikuyu on open sunny frontages. Winter grass and bindii are the cool-season weeds to watch.
Newtown is one of Toowoomba's established inner suburbs, close to the CBD, with a mix of older character homes and renovated family properties on compact to medium blocks. Frontages sit close to the street, mature trees line many of the roads, and gardens are often long-established.
Through the year
What your lawn is telling you
Water beading and running off dry patches means the red soil has gone hydrophobic — a wetting agent fixes it. Spongy underfoot is thatch, ready to scarify. Pale, slow growth wants feeding, and clover spreading is usually the same low-nitrogen message. Ragged edges along paths mean it's being whipper-snipped rather than properly bladed.
Commercial and compact push mowing · precision bladed edging · whipper snipping · hedge trimming, shaping and cutback · pruning and rose pruning · hand weeding and garden weeding · liquid and granular slow-release fertilising · selective weed control · garden clean-ups and green waste removal.
Common questions
Free quotes on every job. The main factors are lawn size, access (tight or gated side accesses may need the compact push mower), how often you'd like us — ongoing weekly, fortnightly or monthly is priced better than one-offs — the condition it's in when we start, and any extras like hedging, fertilising or garden work.
