Black Vertosol · texture-contrast
Cambooya is southern cracking-clay country — largely black Vertosol with texture-contrast soil. The black clay holds water but compacts and cracks (aeration and coring are the fix); the lighter areas dry fast (wetting agents help). Couch, QLD blue couch and kikuyu are the common grasses. Winter grass and bindii are the cool-season weeds, khaki weed is worth watching in the warmth, and frost brings winter dormancy.
