Silver Ridge is a newer-estate mix of lighter texture-contrast soil and red on the rises. Young turf on the lighter soil needs careful early care — the right cutting height, regular feeding, and wetting agents to help the lighter soil hold moisture while roots establish. Couch, kikuyu and buffalo are all common on new estate turf. In the first year especially, winter grass and other weeds try to move into any thin new lawn, so staying on top of them early pays off.
