Upper Lockyer

Up in the valley northeast of Toowoomba, Upper Lockyer's lifestyle and grazing blocks need proper acreage gear and a crew that knows the mixed alluvial and basalt ground. That's us. TopLawn is family-owned, police-checked, $20M insured, 70+ five-star reviews.

Why us here

Local knowledge, local crew

Upper Lockyer's rural valley blocks want efficient ride-on coverage and someone who understands the mix of fertile alluvial soil along the creeks and basalt ground on the higher reaches. We bring the commercial-grade zero-turn and that local read, so bigger blocks get an even, efficient finish. Family-owned, $20M insured, 70+ five-star reviews.

Lockyer Alluvial

Basalt-derived fan alluvium (Dermosol) · stony loam · creek alluvium

Upper Lockyer sits in the upper catchment, where the tributary fans are built from basalt washed down off the range. The valley survey treats these upper-reach fans as their own group — dark, well-structured Dermosols of loam to light clay, porous and well drained, with stone and cobble common on the surface and through the profile. That basalt influence gives them good moisture-holding, better than the drier western flats, though gravelly profiles can drain excessively. The surface runs moderately acid, turning neutral to alkaline at depth. Warmer than the plateau. Couch, QLD blue couch and kikuyu are the common grasses, and the weed timing runs warm.

Upper Lockyer is a rural locality in the upper Lockyer Valley, about 20km northeast of Toowoomba — lifestyle blocks and grazing land on the valley floor and lower slopes.

What your lawn is telling you

Signs it needs more than a mow

Fast-drying slopes want wetting agents; boggy low creek-side spots may need drainage attention. Spongy turf is thatch (scarify), and pale growth is hunger (feed).
