Postmans Ridge

Postmans Ridge is range-base country where alluvial fans spill off the basalt above. The valley survey maps these upper-reach fans as dark, well-structured Dermosols — loam to light clay, porous and well drained, and carrying stone and cobble on the surface and through the profile. They hold moisture well, though the gravellier profiles can drain excessively where coarse bedload sits shallow. Lighter range soils appear on the higher ground and dry faster. So the right care depends on where you sit on the block: higher and lighter ground wants wetting agents, while the lower fan areas hold moisture better. Warmer than the plateau. Couch, QLD blue couch and kikuyu are the common grasses, and the weed timing runs warm.

Postmans Ridge is a rural locality just east of Toowoomba in the Lockyer Valley Region, between Withcott and Murphys Creek — larger rural-residential blocks.

Fast-drying higher ground wants wetting agents; boggy low spots may need drainage attention. Spongy turf is thatch (scarify), and pale growth is hunger (feed).
